Cookies and local storage
What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a short string a site asks your browser to keep and hand back on later visits; local storage is a newer kin of the same idea, holding small values on your device for the site that wrote them. Both exist to let a site remember something between pages or sessions. The question that matters is always what a particular site actually stores — so here is the complete inventory for this one.
The honest legal position in Taiwan
Taiwan has no dedicated cookie statute. The banner you met on arrival is this site’s own practice rather than the satisfaction of a Taiwanese legal requirement, and this page does not claim otherwise. Whatever a stored value records is still personal-data-adjacent, so the general duties of the privacy policy apply to it.
Everything this site stores
| Item | Type | Purpose | Lifetime | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Your banner choice, kept under the key dir-consent-v1 | localStorage | Remembers whether you chose Accept or Reject, so the banner stays quiet on later visits | Until your browser clears this site’s data | This site (first-party) |
That is the entire list. There are no analytics cookies on this site — not “disabled by default” but nonexistent: no analytics or third-party tracking of any kind runs on any page, and nothing is loaded from another host, before or after consent. No session cookies, no preferences beyond the banner record, no exception hiding in a footnote.
Managing the record
Because it lives in your own browser, you control it completely. Every major browser lets you view and clear per-site storage in its settings; clearing this site’s storage removes the banner choice along with anything else. If you simply want the choice asked again, use the button below: it clears the record on this device and the banner reappears immediately.
Whichever path you take, nothing else about the site changes: the same pages, the same free reading, with or without a stored choice.
If your browser blocks storage
Some configurations block storage entirely. In that case the site works normally, the banner just cannot remember your decision between visits — it will appear once per visit, and either button dismisses it as many times as needed.
Where the data duties live
This page concerns stored values only. For everything else — the inquiry form, retention, and your rights under the PDPA — see the privacy policy.
